It was so hard to go through the massive amount of options we have around town for where to celebrate NYE. I tried to narrow it down to 10 restaurants but let’s make it 11, with one out of town option, so a total of 12 places that you should be booking for your NYE dinner and celebration. Not heading out for NYE, that’s ok, I’ve got one hot spot to hit up for brunch the day after.
Countdown to the New Year at Roka Akor (7299 N. Scottsdale Rd.) and choose from one of three seating times (5 p.m., 7 p.m., 9 p.m). Executive Chef Jason Alford will offer two New Year’s Eve menus incorporating Robata Japanese cuisine, prime-cut steaks, seafood and sashimi. Priced at $75 per person, the 5 p.m. dinner will feature a four-course menu that includes dishes such as Niman Prime Beef Tataki with black truffle, Yuzu Miso Black Cod with pickled red onions, Prime Niman Ribeye with house-made wafu dressing, and Warm Chocolate Green Tea Cake with caramelized banana miso ice cream.
Priced at $128 per person, Roka Akor’s 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. seating will offer an extravagant six-course dinner specially prepared on open-charcoal robata grill such as Chef’s Selection Sashimi Platter, Negroni Sorbet with blood orange and pomegranate, Imperial Wagyu Domestic Striploin, Lobster Rice Hotpot with sudachi butter, roasted harukai turnip and shaved lingotto, and more. The Taittinger, Brut, “La Francaise” Champagne, France, NV will also be available for $16/glass and $75/bottle. Try something different with New Year’s Eve at Gertrude’s. For $90/person you’ll get your choice of Jerusalem artichoke soup, wild arugula salad or Hamachi tartar. You can pick an entrée of hay smoked dry aged ribeye, shrimp “scampi” or cauliflower risotto. And dessert can be Chef Taylor’s “candy bar” or oak creek apple parfait.

Start a new tradition for New Years at Beckett’s Table! Before the festivities begin enjoy Beef Carpaccio appetizer (horseradish, grapes, carrot cream, pea tendril puree, garlic bread crumble) and Pan Seared Sea Scallopsentrée (butternut squash cornbread cake, glazed carrots, brussels sprout leaves, sunflower sprouts, tarragon puree, pomegranate). Get the New Year’s Eve celebration started early at Sierra Bonita with happy hour in the bar area from 3 to 6 p.m. Munch on $6 appetizers, such as Sizzlin’ Peppers stuffed with a blend of four cheeses, served sizzling on a unique cast iron skillet, or Carne Asada Street Tacos with cheese, chile de arbol salsa, marinated red onion and salsa de guacamole. Pair the appetizers with a $6 cocktail, such as a Fresh Squeezed Margarita, Dark and Stormy, or Paloma. For New Year’s Eve dinner, Sierra Bonita Grill will be serving two Southwestern specials for the occasion. New Year’s Eve at the Gladly. They will be having two dinners, one is a standard prix fixe $60/pp, and the other is a limited seating (24) $250/pp interactive molecular mixology six course six cocktail extravaganza.
The Upton will be having a NYE at “Home,” our Home $65++ – 4 course dinner and glass of champagne. This 4 course meal has a vegetarian option for each course, for those looking to start that New Year’s resolution a night early. Cocktail Pairing is optional for an additional $35. Also, late night snacks such as chiliquiles, pork belly nachos and steak and fries will be served at 1 am as a 5th course to those who plan to spend the New Year at The Upton. $150++ – 4 course dinner, plus Pappy Van Winkle 15 Year Old Family Reserve Whiskey to say goodbye to 2015 at midnight. Celebrate the last day of the year with an Indian feast at Marigold Maison (4720 E Cactus Rd). Known for his innovative take on Indian cuisine with spices all roasted in-house, Chef Sunil Kumar will offer a four-course New Year’s Eve menu that engages favorites like Paneer Tikki, Lobster Makhani, while also introducing guests to a variety of South Indian specialties.
