Finally the day has come that Southern Rail opens its doors!
You may have seen it on their menus at Beckett’s Table, Southern Rail to open, visit us soon. We have been anticipating this new place for awhile and are eagerly waiting to see what the Chef has in store for our taste buds. Since we are already fans of the atmosphere, food, service and drinks at Beckett’s Table, we have high expectations for Southern Rail. We are told guests will enjoy dishes inspired by the “lowcountry” cooking of the coastal Carolinas, the famous Cajun and Creole fare of New Orleans, and the slow-smoke barbecue of south Texas. Chef Beckett says, “Long before the farm-to-table concept emerged, southern cooks took great pride in preparing dishes with a real focus on local produce. At Southern Rail I wanted to pay homage by incorporating Arizona’s unique local produce in creative takes on some of the South’s most iconic dishes.”
Here is a taste of what you can expect to see on the menu:
* House smoked chicken and grilled Andouille sausage gumbo
* Cornbread salad with grilled cauliflower, marinated tomatoes, pickled beets and okra
* House smoked trout with sweet pea cake and spiced tomato jam
* Fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese
The restaurant will be open daily for dinner. Lunch and weekend brunch will be added later.
