So this will span the last two weeks of my eating, the restaurants you could have spotted me at and my favorite dishes at each place. Enjoy and please let me know where your fav spots were and what to order too! xoxo
The Rogue Tomato is my Glendale area recommendation for all my friends over there. I’ll have a full review up on Monday but in the meantime, as hard as it was to pick a favorite, I’ll suggest these two apps. the chorizo fondue with pretzel bread and in the background the crab cake. But we enjoyed it all and will be back for dinner soon!
Nothern Perks Doughnut Shop is too tempting for me and my friends. We can’t help but love their sugary cakey and creative ways. It’s so hard to choose a favorite out of all of them because they are all damn good, so grab a dozen and take a bite of each.
Trout Dip at Chelsea’s Kitchen. I shit you not, the trout dip is bomb, I know it sounds weird but it works. It works on saltines or those little radish type accompaniments. Do it!
Salmon Spread at Kitchen West. Since we are on the topic of spreadable fish, why not go with the salmon spread too. My favorite dish from the evening and made even better when smeared all over their fresh baked bread. I ate almost the entire bowl of it and I wasn’t sorry.
French Grocery Club Sandwich. Holy crap you guys, why didn’t anybody ever tell me how amazing the French Grocer is and especially this sandwich. Were you trying to hide it from me, so you could have more of it for yourself? Shame on you I say! At first I thought nothing of it when I ordered it but when I bit into it my head almost exploded. It’s build on a beignet, I can’t even begin to describe how perfect in every way this bread is and then you get huge layers of bacon, turkey and ham. Don’t ever keep a secret like this from me again.
Drexyl pushed out some great food to us on media night but the one item that I favored was the sole. Pacific coast sole with hand squeezed lemonade pan sauce, fried capers, whipped potatoes and a seasonal vegetable. Maybe it was because I didn’t expect much out of the dish and it surprised me or maybe it was how simple the flavors were but how well they played in my mouth. I don’t want to over think it, it was just good.
Taggia slayed me with their gnocchi. Pillowy ricotta dumplings resting in a luscious amount of black truffle “alfredo”, topped with speck and toasted hazelnuts. I would take seconds of that!
And that my friends is where I leave you. I hope you try some of these dishes out and let me know what you think. Till next time, happy eating!
