Here’s what you could have spotted me eating around town this week or so, since I didn’t technically post one last week. I have eaten some pretty bomb dishes and these ones made my face twist and turn in delight.
We took a quick excursion down to Tucson for a staycation at JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass Resort and Spa and to meet Chef Kelly. I had the opportunity to spend time with her, walk through the garden and then try her food at Primo. If I had to pick just one, the crab cake was the highlight, for me, of our dinner experience. The flavors melded wonderfully together and I felt it was a great expression of her farm to table theme.
Chicken & Waffles from Jewel’s Bakery. I went back twice in one week to eat this because the first time I had to share. From the crispy waffle and chicken to the buttery and spicy sauces you pour all over it, this is my kind of breakfast.
Smokehaus from DCM Burger, the newest addition to their menu is this amazing burger topped with spice and yes people, Lil Miss BBQ brisket. I feel like I don’t need to say anything more, except head over there now and order one. You’re welcome!
Lobster Rolls from Buck & Rider were my favorite dish from the entire meal we tried. Surprisingly the server almost steered me away from ordering them but I can’t resist ordering a lobster roll if it’s on the menu. My only wish is that they weren’t tiny little lobster rolls but one large one, enough to satisfy my lunch hungers.
Dessert at Stonegrill inside the JW Marriott Desert Ridge brought back memories of what first struck that cord in me when I knew I wanted to do something in food. I spent three year at the JW working and helping out the World Pastry Forum and Championship and the other day I got to revisit the stomping grounds and try out the new Stonegrill restaurant. They served us five wonderful courses and it was hard to pick my favorite but I just adore dessert, especially when you bring me two. The first was a blueberry ice cream bar and the other was a chocolate cake covered in caramel. I was in heaven!
