One of the questions I got on a regular basis before pregnancy and all during my pregnancy, was how I managed to maintain a healthy weight, while consuming the amount of food that I eat. Let’s face it, I eat a lot and I have since I was a little girl. Nobody taught me about eating in moderation and I never worked out, in fact I use to get notes to skip Physical Education in high school. By the time I was out of school and out of the house, I was eating fast food like nobody’s business. Jack in the Box was my best friend and I worked in the food industry, so I ate all.the.time. I have a love for food and that’s not a bad thing but I’m sure glad I started to learn more about healthy eating habits and workout habits.
That being said, I’ve always struggled with my weight and finding balance. By the time I was 22, I was about 40lbs over a healthy weight and sick of feeling unhealthy. I started trying all kinds of things like starving myself and working out hardcore. I did a bunch of fad diets. I felt guilty when I would indulge and then as punishment workout harder or eat even less the next day. The scale ruled my life and ruined it. I was never happy with what I saw in the mirror, it just was never good enough. The only time I’ve ever felt confident was when I added consistent physical activity into the mix and nothing has held me more accountable than OrangeTheory.
After my first pregnancy, it took me 4 years to get back into working out. OrangeTheory took me into the best physical shape I’ve been in for awhile and then I got pregnant again. I still maintained my health during pregnancy for 7 months but it’s been almost 5 months without working out now. That eating has somewhat caught up to me and I feel like I’m back at square one.
So I can’t wait to share my journey with you, it will help me hold myself accountable but I hope it shows some of you how easy it is to start a healthy lifestyle and maintain it. Any workout regimen is a good one but OrangeTheory is a great place to get started, you can go at your own pace and you’ll meet some great people to make the process so much more enjoyable. Part of keeping up the workout routine, for me at least, is having fun and having a group of people that miss me too when I’m gone.
And in case you were wondering, since people use to think that I worked out everyday of the week, I don’t or I didn’t. I worked out twice a week and that kept me in a good place. All that shame I had from eating what I wanted or what I saw in the mirror has finally faded, well it had. I know that I’ll get back to feeling that way again soon since today is finally the day people!! I’m super excited to get back into shape. I love how I feel after working out, let’s not forget about my favorite trainer Blue that I’ve missed working out with and all the people that I’ve grown fond of in my classes.
And hey, I’d love to workout with you too – the first class is always free and it’s more fun to workout with a friend. So if you’re interested in taking a class with me, message me at arizonafoodie at outlook dot com. We can burn off that bruschetta and all those cupcakes together!
