Finally some traditional Vietnamese dishes prepared fresh and with authentic ingredients and for a damn good price, that’s right I said it!
Banh Mi Bistro has not been open for long but they have already created a name and following of customers for themselves. When you walk into their quaint restaurant, you’ll probably be greeted by the owner, who works there with his wife. The husband and wife duo once managed Little Saigon Restaurant in Glendale with their family but had dreams of opening up their own establishment and we’re glad they did.
I wandered in here for dinner with the family after being reminded by a local Chef that it was open and I still hadn’t been. After reviewing the menu for a minute, I knew I wanted to order their Banh Mi Shaken Beef sandwich, full of cubed ribeye steak, bell peppers, onions, asian cole slaw and sesame dressing ($7). This sandwich is also slathered with a homemade aioli, pickled carrots, daikon radish, cilantro, jalapeno and sliced cucumbers, which you should expect to see on a traditional Banh Mi. Spectacular people! I also ordered the noodle salad bowl, which I absolutely love. I have only been able to find one at a vegan restaurant and was happy to see them represented here. Thin rice vermecilli with sliced cucmbers, bean sprouts, cilantro, mint, lettuce, pickled carrots and daikon radish, scallions, roasted peanuts and a sweet fish sauce vinaigrette will fill you’re bowl up and then you get to chose what goes inside for protein, we picked grilled pork and chicken ($8).
If you’re looking for that new spot to feed your tastebud’s desires for authentic flavors, head over to Banh Mi Bistro and join the bandwagon.
