I have visited many of the Fox Concept restaurants. It’s hard not too, Sam Fox seems to have taken over our town with his delightful concepts and it doesn’t seem like he’s going to be stop anytime soon. One thing you should know about me, I don’t like to go out for Mexican food. Nothing against it, I love it but I feel like if I’m going to take the time and money to have an experience with food, it better be worth it. I can make my own tacos, salsa, burritos and guacamole, why would I want to spend $10 for you to do one for me and honestly, I’ll probably make it better than you. That’s been my experience and that’s my mindset.
However, when the hubs and I were wandering around the Biltmore the other day, I decided we should check out the new Blanco Tacos + Tequila location.
The facility is brand new, right next to Fox’s Zinburger (delicious but undercooked burgers). We got there right as they were opening and were seated promptly by extremely friendly hostesses. In fact, everyone working there was nice, over the top nice, which I appreciate. Here is a list of things that I loved and that I wish could be better:
- The chips and salsa that we started with were highly addictive. I try to eat healthy, so I normally skip the chips but I couldn’t help myself. Both items were fresh and full of flavor.
- I was going to order a salad but how could I resist the temptation of the slow cooked b-b-q pork (award winning) tacos. Holy smokes, I died and then I ate all three of them and savored each one.
- Again with trying to be healthy, at all other Mexican restaurants I skip the beans and rice. In fact, I was going to tell our waitress to please not serve them to me but I’m so glad I didn’t. That rice was not rice, it was almost a risotto and I couldn’t stop eating that creamy goodness either. The charro beans…also flavorful but the rice wins.
My hubs had a burrito, which I enjoyed a bit of too. I was too busy inhaling my tacos to care much about his burrito though. I know I said I would tell you what I wish could be better but I have no bad words to say about my food experience here. It changed my life and now whenever my family comes down to visit and wants to eat Mexican food, I will no longer laugh at them, I will take them to Blanco Tacos + Tequila.
Next time you’re in the mood for some Mexican food and you want to be treated great and feast in a nice atmosphere – head over to their happy hour to test them out M-F 4-6pm.
Have you tried a Fox Concepts Restaurant out yet? If so, which is your favorite and what’s your favorite dish?
