Thursday night I had my fill and then some of burgers at the always hip Hotel Valley Ho for the Burger Battle put on by the Scottsdale Culinary Festival. Just one of the many amazing events held each year to raise money for the Scottsdale League of Arts.
We had about 14 different restaurants to try out, each competing for the title of the Best Burger in the Valley. There are two ways to get this title, there’s the Judge’s Choice and the People’s Choice. Here’s what the results looked like.
Hopdoddy Burger Bar (shown above) was given first place by the judges and this is the second year in a row they’ve won. ThePrimetime Burger was Texas Akaushi beef topped with creamy Brie cheese, truffle aioli, arugula, caramelized onions and steak sauce.
Second place went to Zinburger who put out The Mel Brooks burger, a Snake River Farms Kobe beef patty topped with pastrami, shredded cabbage, pickles and a spicy truffle mustard. It was pretty damn good if I don’t say so myself!
Third place went to ZuZu, which is from the restaurant located inside the Hotel Valley Ho. They gave us the Gala Burger which is fresh ground chuck topped with menage cheese and bacon-Gala apple jam all on a toasted brioche bun, simple but perfectly blended flavors.
For us people voting, we put Aioli Burger at the top of the list with their Signature Italiano Slider that had fresh mozzarella, tomato, balsamic reduction, crispy panchetta and a basil garlic aioli – oh yeah!
Second place went to ZuZu 🙂
Third place went to Bootleggers with their Bootastic Burger. A delicious house grind topped with smoked bacon and onion jam, American cheese, dill pickles, secret Boot sauce all on Chompie’s rye bread.
Congrats to everyone that participated and thanks for making our night so meaty!
