In an effort to keep up with the growing need by consumers to eat high quality, fresh and seasonal ingredient, California Pizza Kitchen (“CPK”), has started serving the “Next Chapter” menu. A menu that gives the restaurant a new look and a new taste. You can still find your fan favorite classics like the Original BBQ Chicken Pizza but you’ll also be seeing some dishes that highlight their culinary creativity.
On top of new food items, you’ll also be able to try new hand-crafted cocktails and locally brewed beers. My favorite was the Blueberry Ginger Smash, a fresh flavored drink with muddled blueberries, lime and cranberry mixed with Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey and Domaine de Canton Ginger. My guest enjoyed the California Roots, don’t be afraid of the fresh avocado it’s made with, it’s worth a try and shaken smooth with Svedka vodka, mint and lime and finsihed with a fennel salt rim.
To nibble on we tried a few of their seasonal offerings, the Brussels + Bacon Flatbread, with Nueske’s Applewood-smoked bacon, sweet caramelized onions and creamy goat cheese and the smoked ham and swiss emmentaler with goat cheese and caramelized onions and smashed garlic croutons.
My favorite entree of the night was the Fire-Grilled Ribeye cooked with house-made pinot noir sea salt, topped with creamy bleu cheese butter and served with roasted fingerling potatoes and lemon-garlic wild arugula salad. Although the butternut squash farro, grilled asparagus and baby kale that came with the Hearth-Roasted Halibut, was divine and I ate all of that up before anything else on the plate, my guest did the same.
For dessert we tried their two new options salted caramel pudding with black cocoa cookie crumbs, whipped cream, caramel sauce and flaked sea salt and the s’mores with Belgium chocolate pudding, dark chocolate chunks, double graham cracker and toasted marshmallow. The winner for us that night was the creamy sweet salted caramel pudding. We love the new look and the new flavors that CPK are playing with and we’d love to know what you think of them too!
