When I asked past guests what Chef they would like to see at an upcoming Eatable Event, they mentioned Chef Jason Alford from Roka Akor. Being a frequent visitor of the restaurant and lover of Chefs dishes, you can imagine my excitement when he agreed to do this one-night-only, exclusive dinner!
This is going to be a night we turn the event space into an Izakaya (informal Japanese gastropub) and Chef Jason executes a fall menu showcasing local ingredients like Arizona grass fed beef and pairing the dishes with Japanese gin and whiskey cocktails. You can expect nothing short of amazing because we know, with more than eight years at Roka Akor under his belt, Chef Jason Alford will be bringing his passion to the kitchen.
Originally from Eugene, Oregon, Alford’s career in hospitality began in 2003 when he chose to work under Chef Anton Brunbauer, a Scottsdale Culinary Hall of Fame inductee. Chef Brunbauer was a great mentor who convinced Alford to skip culinary classes and instead learn from him firsthand in the kitchen. Alford went on to work with Chef Ce Bian at Roka Akor, at which he became part of a talented team dedicated to quality ingredients and top-notch service.
Chef’s dedication to leading the culinary team at Roka Akor, led Alford to earn one of the country’s top culinary awards in the inaugural edition of Best Chefs America (2013), which is a peer review guide of top U.S. chefs. In his free time, Alford likes to spend time with his wife Jess and son Jackson. As a lover of music, Alford also has a soft spot for collecting vintage guitars and music.
