What a whirlwind week full of food and fun and one of the events I found myself at was with the famed Chef Rick Bayless. Ya know, we were hanging out cooking tacos and surrounded by a ton of Negra Modelo. Well, maybe not exactly like that, there were quite a few other people around and he may have been cooking for all of us. However, I did get a chance to hang out with him in a more intimate setting with a few other media people. What did we learn that Negra Modelo is not only for drinking but it’s the #perfectcomplement for cooking. The night was based on Chef Bayless and Chef Cairns preparing mouth watering dishes using Negra Modelo. We were all pleased to sample a little bite of what Bayless prepares for Thanksgiving: a slow cooker lamb barbacoa. I may have eaten three of them and I may have gotten scolded for doing so. (I was super hangry by this time though, can you really blame me.) If you’re interested in cooking like Bayless and checking out the flavors of Negra Modelo in a dish I recommend trying the lamb barbacoa taco that he made. You can get a taste of it by checking out the recipe for his recipe at the link here. You’ll also find a guacamole recipe in that link, you’re welcome.
What else did we learn? Well, Bayless told us that he enjoys cooking with the Munich Dunkel style lager because of how it’s characterized by slow roasted caramel malts, a hint of sweetness and the finest hops that don’t get bitter from the cooking process. Thanks for a great night and a ton of eats, what a treat to see Chef Bayless cook.
