There’s something about covering a festive Oreo in chocolate and crushed peppermint that makes it even more festive. With holidays coming up, I love to make lots of different baked goods and give them out to friends, family, and co-workers. This is something that anyone can do, and would even be fun to include the kids, since it requires so little effort. But they look like you bought them at a gourmet candy store. These are going to make a perfect gift bag for some lucky friends of mine, and I can’t wait to show you how simple it is to put together! Think holiday parties, last minute gifts, or just a little treat for yourself after a long day at the office.
Chocolate Covered Peppermint Oreos
- 1 package Winter Oreos
- 1 12-oz. bag melting chocolate wafers
- 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies
In a microwave safe bowl, heat the chocolate on high for 30-second intervals, stirring well in between each interval. Repeat until the chocolate wafers have completely melted and the mixture is smooth. Alternatively, you can use a double-broiler until the chocolate melts.
Dip the Oreos in the melted chocolate, covering all sides, Remove with a fork and allow the excess chocolate to drip off. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment or wax paper and sprinkle some crushed peppermint on top.
Repeat until you have used up all of the melting chocolate. Place the baking sheet in the fridge for 30 minutes until they have set, then serve.
