Drexyl is now open in Scottsdale at the SHOPS at Gainey Village and serving up Modern American fare. Here’s a visual glance at all the delicious dishes we sampled at a media dinner last week and which ones were my favorite.
The Ahi Tuna Taco Trio on the crisp wontons with jalapeño syrup, charred slaw, pickled onion and cilantro, were my favorite appetizer. We also tried the chicken arancini with fire roasted chicken, crispy fried risotto, tomato jam, cilantro cream and candied jalapeno and the Chef’s board which was full of havarti cheese, herb crusted goat cheese, soppressata salami, pickled vegetables, calabrese sausage, gorgonzola, fig jam and toasted bread.
The fresh caprese salad featured locally grown vine ripe tomato, buffalo mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, pretzel croutons, balsamic drizzle, extra virgin olive oil
Jade pesto halibut was topped with a spectacular cilantro pesto and rested on a bed of forbidden black rice, shiitake mushrooms, baby bok-choy and topped with a coconut curry.
The heritage pork chop was a large house smoked, double cut chop with grilled apple butter and came with my two favorite sides the truffle goat cheese orecchiette pasta and candied bacon & seared brussel sprouts.
My favorite entree was the Pacific coast sole with hand squeezed lemonade pan sauce, fried capers, whipped potatoes and a seasonal vegetable.
My favorite dessert of the night was the bread pudding, oh my, milk chocolate, candied pecans, roasted banana and maple whiskey butter sauce!
The salted caramel brownie with a barely set fudge brownie, vanilla gelato, bourbon pretzel crumble and cider salted caramel was also divine.
The gelato sampler was such a great and creative idea, I loved the individual waffle cones and I heard the best flavor was coconut, it also came with vanilla, chocolate and strawberry sorbet.
