Want to join us for a hot air balloon ride and a gourmet meal experience headed up by Chef Robbie Tutlewski from Pizzeria Bianco? I did not have to think twice in order to answer that question. Heck Yes!! What an experience of a lifetime, something most people want to mark off their bucket list but may never do and something many people are terrified to do.I jumped at the chance and Float Balloon Tours gave us all quite an amazing and unexpected day.We started off meeting everyone in a parking lot for Cartel coffee and biscotti, said our hellos and introductions, then piled into the van and out to the Anthem launch site. The balloon was filled with hot and cold air and once it started to lift up, we were instructed to jump on in as fast as we could, so we could take off to the skies. Away we went with the wind, high up into the air where we were greeted with a blissful silence and the most spectacular views. Our balloon guide was experienced and made us feel safe. We watched as down below us the hustle and bustle of life continued but around us we enjoyed the peacefulness. After an hour in the air we were on the ground and ready to get some food in our bellies. Olivia and her husband were quickly putting together a table for us to sit and enjoy a gourmet meal. All the details on that table and with the food were on spot. We started with a winter harvest grapefruit mimosa, a little AZ Hops and Vines sparkling wine, hand squeezed grapefruit and Lillet Blanc. Then we devoured a hearty plate of Unwrapped tamales with a meatball (AZ grass-fed beef, 100% stone ground polenta, a farm fresh egg), fresh Arizona citrus salad with fennel and local bee pollen and honey, sungold tomato jam and a beet galette with goat cheese creama. All locally sourced and fresh, no words can describe the feeling of eating that well out in the desert, away from it all.For those of you looking for that little extra reason to enjoy a hot air balloon ride, this would be your best choice. In fact, I would take the meal experience on it’s own, it was that good and I hear you won’t find that with any other rides. For all the information you need on booking them for $195 a person (on special right now), check out their website: http://www.floatballoontours.com Tell em AZFoodie sent you!
