Could it be? Our last healthy eats blog of the month? It’s true my foodie friends, January has come to an end and I hope you were able to hit up some of these restaurants I’ve showcased and try out their healthy eats. It’s no surprise that I hit up one of my healthy and hip favorites for the last blog, Flower Child by the creative Sam Fox.
Flower Child hasn’t even been open a year but people are loving their food revolution! We love the local sourcing, the fresh and fast cooking, and the consistent good quality food that they put in front of us. This place is always packed when I head in, so we go a little early than the lunch rush, so we can get a good table. By noon, the restaurant is full and there is typically a line. In a rush, you can order to go. This time around I ordered one of their fresh juices (kale, lemon, ginger, celery, etc.), a lemonade and to start their granola salad. For my main dish I ordered the grass-fed beef with chili glazed sweet potatoes, baby Brussels sprouts and the sweet corn and quinoa. My other half ordered the chicken with soba noodles, mac and cheese and the sweet corn and quinoa. The juice came out first, full of nutrients and fresh squeezed. Then the salad joined our table and it had some great layers of flavors. The simple greens are dressed lightly with a chia seed vinaigrette and then topped with a strong gorgonzola and accented by fennel (I love this addition), sprouted almond, pomegranate, clementines and fuji apple slices. I’ll be back for this salad, another one to add to my favorite list. Our main lunch items came out after, the grass-fed beef was tender and cooked to the right temperature, the sweet corn and quinoa is so good with it’s creamy texture from the Greek yogurt, then those amazing sweet potatoes tossed with chili and bok choy and delicious baby Brussels sprouts with a hint of golden miso. I don’t think I could stray from ordering this dish every single time I go. My other half enjoyed his meal as well, juicy chicken as the protein, gluten free mac and cheese (maybe not the healthiest option but still a good one) and those sesame soba noodles were fantastic! As a side note, I love their Kombucha on tap, and I definitely recommend you try it from here, if you haven’t yet.
I’ve tried many other dishes here from the Rebel wrap to the Madras curry chicken and I have yet to eat something I didn’t like. So what are you waiting for? Join the food revolution and let me know what you think!!
