It’s not every day I get to be in the kitchen cooking with the big dogs! When Four Seasons Scottsdale Resort asked me to come be Chef for the day and which Mashup I would want to participate in, I jumped at the opportunity to get in the kitchen with Chef Mel Mecinas and my friends at Atlas Bistro. I knew that with those two concepts combined, it would be a dinner I wouldn’t soon forget. Driving to Four Seasons is no joke but that’s part of the allure of the resort, it’s far enough away to make you feel like you’re somewhere else but it’s close enough to still get back to town quickly, if you need to. And the views of the city are spectacular!
I was taken back to the kitchen, hugs all around and then I was given my task by Chef Cory Oppold of Atlas Bistro. Slice them granny smith apples and make them into tiny circles and then put them into the liquid that would keep them from turning brown. For me, I enjoyed watching the Chefs in action and the whole kitchen in action for a few hours. I don’t often get a chance to be a part of the chaos. I also don’t often have a meal by myself, I was a table for one that night and it ended up being just what I needed. I sat on the patio of Talavera at 7pm after watching the sunset, my seat overlooking the massive city and it’s twinkling lights. My days at home have been such a mess of hurry up and go, not enough time and madness and chaos created by two young children, it’s enough to make me go insane on a regular basis but I sure do love them! So being able to sit peacefully and not have to have conversation but fully immerse myself into the dark and the food, that was exactly what I needed.
You guys, the meal was nothing short of amazing, which I truly had expected from the two of them.
Thanks Chefs for having me in the kitchen and then treating me to a wonderful dinner. You guys don’t know how much I adore spending time with you and getting to see you in your element, it’s always such a treat! Four Seasons hosts Mashup Dinners monthly, featuring different Chefs from around town, this is the third one we have been to. They are such a wonderful time and a great way to experience two culinary treasures with one meal. I hear that there may only be a few of the Mashup Dinners left, so you best get in and check out the next one.
