You probably know Johnjay Van Es from his hit radio show on 104.7fm in the morning. Or maybe you’ve come across one of his many active social media channels where he posts pictures and videos frequently. He posts things about his three sons, lovely wife Blake, dogs…lots of dogs, #loveup gear and his followers that sport it, working out, foot massages and so much more! Has anyone noticed how he did a cameo in Stranger Things? Just kidding but seriously, they’re twins. What do we love about Johnjay, that he’s honest, he’s open, he’s real and he’s caring. He gives back so much to the community with his #loveup campaign and all the help he does for those foster dogs. He’s a family man that and oh yeah, he gets to meet some pretty cool people. You know what else I think we love, that we can relate to him. He doesn’t try to put on a front that he’s perfect, he shares his struggles and his successes. I appreciate that Johnjay, so keep it up! I can only speak for myself here but my favorite thing about Johnjay is that he eats as much food as I do and we both workout at the same place! So it’s no surprise that can find us sharing with each other where we should eat next and what we should order.
I wanted to know where Johnjay’s favorite places to get seafood were, so here are 5 restaurants he frequents for fish, in no particular order.
1. Mr ANs in Tucson is THE best sushi in the world! It’s amaze! Worth the drive, trust me. Get the Troy (named after the chef, they hired him away from the Ritz in Tokyo).
2. Ahi Poke bowl ( I get a bowl, half rice, half salad, tons of spicy tuna, crab and seaweed. Sooooooo good, I could eat it every day. They have one Thomas and Scottsdale road and are opening one in Chandler (my wife Blake and I go there after we workout together, great to put protein in your body after a workout). There’s a great foot massage place next door and another place that sells old school Thrifty Ice Cream! So yummy!
3.Sushi Holic, best sushi in Phx, so many great rolls. My whole family loves this place. We usually have Felipe, one of the chefs there, surprise us! It’s always a homerun!
4. Coconuts OMG! Amaze! Grilled Mahi Cajun style with grilled veggies. So fresh and healthy! I need one closer to my house though.
5. Steak 44has a shrimp cocktail that is BONKERS! (The horseradish will burn your face off, I save some to put on my steak after) Huge shrimp and their grilled fish is just as good as the steaks!
