I know I’ve been a little absent on the blogsphere these past couple weeks. Not only have I been sick almost nonstop for about 6 weeks but I’ve been trying to balance out my life a little bit. With the New Year coming up, I’m trying to figure out what I need to focus on in 2017. I’m one of those people that has given up on New Year’s Resolutions. What I do now, is a different version of a New Year’s Resolution, I create a list of goals that I want to accomplish by the end of the year. I think long and hard and I don’t sensor myself. No dream, no idea, no goal is too large or too out of reach for me to put on that list. The difference for me is after I write that list, I put it in my journal and I don’t look at it again until the end of the year. It’s not about saying I’m going to workout and then not working out for a month and saying I failed. It’s about creating goals, putting them out in the universe and then going on with my life.
I know that might seem strange but I can’t tell you how many of those goals have come to fruition. I’ve started to get excited thinking about looking back at what I put on my list last year. I’m always amazed, ALWAYS, at how many of those things have actually come to life. Growth knows no bounds as long as you don’t put restraints on yourself.
These last couple weeks I’ve started to ponder what I’m going to put on that list and a few goals have come to mind. Balance is a huge one and with a baby at home, it becomes a frazzling experience to try to have any semblance of balance. Finding time to run a business, do all the things that I creatively have running through my mind and also being able to be with my kids, my husband and spend time with my friends, seems so out of reach. This is the year I’m going to grab that goal! Everything is about saving time for me and that means in the kitchen too. I’m not one of those people that enjoys finding recipes and I can’t come up with my own. I don’t want to wander the grocery aisles trying to find ingredients and then going to multiple stores to get everything I need. Who has time for this? I call using a delivery system for my meals one of the smartest things I’ve ever done and each week I get excited to see that Blue Apron box at my front door. I eat out a lot, so I crave home cooked meals and I need something easy to prepare and something we will all love. This my friends is the answer and if you haven’t heard about it yet or ever tried it out, I want to give you the gift of 3 free meals, all you gotta do is click here, sign up and when you check out the meals will be free!
I don’t want to go too much in detail but in case you’ve never heard about Blue Apron, you sign up online, choose your meal preferences and each week you can pick out of the recipes that week, which ones you want to have delivered. Need to skip a week, no problem. Want to cancel your account after trying it, super easy to do. You’ll thank me later when you’re life becomes a little bit easier. This saves us money each week because we aren’t eating out and it makes me feel better about what I’m eating because we aren’t resorting to frozen foods. Sometimes I wonder why I didn’t come up with this genius idea, it just makes sense.
My last thought, I want to give back more to my community again. I’m talking about doing events to raise money or donations and also the things I use to do each year in our family. The day before Christmas my son and I drove around the streets handing out gifts to children we didn’t know, just because we wanted to spread a little more joy. I use to do more of this but I haven’t done much this year because I’ve been too busy. I don’t want to use that excuse, it’s not a good one. There are so many great causes to give to but two of my favorite charities to give donations to are Child Crisis Center and Phoenix Rescue Mission. If you haven’t gone down to check out their facilities and witness the amazing work they’re doing in our backyard, I highly suggest experiencing it.
So with the New Year coming up, I hope you’ll join me in making a list of goals and watching them come true this year. Here’s to a year full of growth, saving time and maybe getting some sleep. And thank you all for your support throughout the past couple years, I wouldn’t be where am I today without it. I’m still amazed at how Arizona Foodie has grown into what it is today and how much love I get from all of you. Keep on messaging me, asking me questions, saying hi when you see me out and about, liking and commenting, supporting our Chefs and restaurants, coming to our events and I’ll get to keep doing what I’m doing! Hope you all had a fantastic holiday and see you soon!
