I’ve been doing more home meals with #azfoodiebaby around and as you can probably tell, I enjoy supporting our local food scene. Usually I’m talking about our local restaurants but let’s share a little love to those that are creating amazing local products. You may have noticed that our contributor Rhea used olive oil in her latest recipe from Queen Creek Olive Mill, we’ll be doing a little of that and a little of this.
So, go out and grab some chips, salsa and cold ones for the weekend and give back to our local food scene. These items pictured above can all be purchased from Whole Foods and they all are produced right here, in your backyard…basically. You have the chips from Alejandro’s Tortilla Factory, the salsa is made by Mariya’s Gourmet Salsa (Fresh Select) and the beer is from Sleepy Dog Brewery.
Speaking of the salsa, I thought my favorite would be the peach mango, it’s refreshing, a little sweet and mildly spicy but that salsa verde was pretty amazing too. Mariya’s started in Phoenix about five years ago and their use of fresh ingredients is quite prevelant in the flavor of their products. I chose mild salsa but they have so many to chose from at the store and the chips are the perfect local vessel and made down in Tucson. The tail chaser IPA from Sleepy Dog has a beautiful copper color and classic semi-dry finish. If you want to head straight to the source and get a drink, Sleepy Dog is located in Tempe and has been around since 2009.
