Chicago-based Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria officially announces today that it will open its first out-of-state pizzeria in the heart of Phoenix in May 2016.
With a commitment to quality at the cornerstone of its operations, Lou Malnati’s promises to provide Phoenix pizza lovers the exact tasting pizza that has earned the company its recognition as the best deep dish pizza in Chicago year after year.
The new pizzeria will be located at 100 E. Camelback Rd., Suite 152, in the Uptown Plaza Shopping Center, which is currently undergoing a major renovation.
“It’s a big deal to be expanding outside of Chicago,” says Marc Malnati, owner of Lou Malnati’s. “We are eager to bring our authentic Chicago-style deep dish pizza to Arizona and we’re committed to bringing the same level of quality, atmosphere and hospitality that we are known for in Chicago.”
The company has gone to great lengths to ensure that it provides a true taste of Chicago. Five members of the Lou Malnati’s Chicago management team are permanently relocating to Phoenix to oversee the operations.
“Our people and our ingredients are the foundation of our business. By bringing in a strong team from Chicago, who are committed to relocating permanently, we have the leadership we need. As for our ingredients, we are doing everything possible to ensure the product will taste just as it does is in Chicago, but we are particularly focused on our dough. We have spent a considerable amount of time finding a water filtration process that will replicate Chicago’s water in Phoenix.”
Other Lou Malnati’s Ingredient Quality Assurances Include:
- Dough made from scratch – Every Lou Malnati’s pizza is handmade from scratch daily using the finest and freshest ingredients. The buttery, flaky crust will win people over in Arizona just like it has for decades in Chicago.
- Dairy farm – The fresh mozzarella cheese will be delivered from the same small, Wisconsin dairy farm that has supplied Lou Malnati’s for more than 40 years.
- Tomato selection – Every year, the Lou Malnati’s management team travels to California to meet with their tomato growers. The team stays until the tomatoes are at their absolute sweetest, reddest, and plumpest.
“Uptown Plaza is a great location in a very family-focused neighborhood and we can’t wait to give everyone a true taste of Chicago,” said Malnati. “Lou Malnati’s has always been rich in tradition and family values and we look forward to sharing that here in Phoenix and becoming involved in the community.”
The new location will have approximately 6,800 square feet of inside space and 1,500 square feet of outdoor patio space, with an initial estimate of 240 seats. Carry-out, delivery and catering services will also be available.
Lou Malnati’s Phoenix plans to hire nearly 100 employees prior to its opening in Spring 2016.
