The name says it all. For healthy eats, you can definitely find something to feed your appetite when you head into Luci’s Healthy Marketplace. You’ll find everything from good for you breakfasts, sandwiches and burgers to marketplace items and unique gifts. For a hearty healthy breakfast we suggest you start with their newest dish the Kick Starter Sammie. It’s fresh cracked egg whites, turkey sausage, avocado, tomato and your choice of Bagel or English Muffin. Served with a side of salsa. If you must have a little cheese on your sammie, like me, ask for the herb goat cheese, the creaminess pairs perfectly with the egg whites and sausage. You can substitute egg whites into any of the breakfast items and if you’re looking to kick the bread, order the Greek Omelette with egg whites, sauteed spinach, red onion, tomato and mushrooms.
For lunch you can sit down and enjoy one of their market salads like the Spring Beet or Kale. They also make fresh soups. After telling them about my son’s dairy allergy I found out that the tomato soup uses a coconut milk as the base instead of cream. It tastes like curry and my son couldn’t get enough. In a hurry, salads, soups and other items can be found in their grab and go case. Fast and healthy, we likey!
Maybe it’s because I live in the neighborhood and I have young children but when Lucia and Chef Stephen were telling me the plans for the new Luci’s on 12th St and Glendale, I was as excited as they were. We’re talking bigger space, private rooms for hosting events, a picnic lawn for guests to use and my favorite, a splash pad!! I absolutely love seeing community based concepts succeed and Luci’s Healthy Marketplace is doing just that. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on their progress with the new location. Until then, no excuses to start your year off eating right and feeling good, head on over and order a vanilla latte while you’re at it, they’re so smooth and dreamy.
