As soon as I walked into Marcellino’s, I felt like I was in Italy. The inside has a rustic charm with exposed wood beams and brick walls. The owner Chef Marcellino and his wife Sima greeted us as we sat at our table. They were so friendly and welcoming. All of the pasta at Marcellino’s is hand crafted and Chef Marcellino strives to provide the finest Italian food in the Valley. We started with fresh bruschetta. It was tiny, but full of flavor. Sometimes it’s better to get something small, so you can really focus on what you are tasting. The tomatoes and basil paired nicely with the crusty bread.
For the official Anitpasto we had a Salmon Tartare. The diced Atlantic salmon was tender and tasted fresh. It was topped on a bed of cabbage and a orange round. All the flavors blended so nicely together.
Next was the Hand Crafted Pasta Duo. I was first drawn to the Gnocchi Sorrentina. Each bite was smooth and creamy inside. They were light and smothered in a tomato sauce with mozzarella on top. This is was one of the highlights of my night was digging into this delicious bites! On the other side of the plate for the pasta duo was their Tortellone. This pouch of pasta was filled with slow roasted beef tenderloin and vegetables. It was topped with a hearty tomato sauce and cheese. This dish was packed with flavor. The meat was tender and complimented the sauce and texture of the pasta well.
The Secondo for the evening was the Pollo Saporito. Pieces of white chicken sauteed with mushrooms, pine nuts, sun-dried & fresh tomato. Chef Marcellino paired it with potatoes and his seasonal vegetables. The herbs and sauce that this dish was floating in was flavorful and delightful.
You can’t go to Marcellino’s and not leave without dessert. We had a Dolce Trio with Biscotti di Noci, Tiramisu and Italian Cheesecake. The Italian Cheesecake was my favorite. It’s made with creamy lightly sweetened ricotta. I tasted all three and they all tasted perfect! I’m just a cheesecake girl!
