If you are currently wondering what Arizona Foodie’s favorite new restaurant is, here you go. MATCH Cuisine & Cocktails put on quite the meal for myself and 7 other guests. We sat at the Chef’s table in front of the kitchen and watched as each dish was prepared in smaller bites for us. We went through about 11 or 12 dishes and each one left me with a lack of words and the only thing I could muster was a, damn, that is good, that is really good guys.
MATCH is inside FOUND:RE Phoenix, which is a gorgeous and unique boutique hotel. The hotel is a one-of-a-kind lifestyle hotel experience with every design detail inspired by local contemporary art, culture, fashion and music. The 105-room hotel welcomes guests and Valley residents to delve into the museum-worthy spaces as well as the creative programming woven throughout. It truly is a gem and the restaurant reflects the hotel’s creative dynamic by serving unique, locally sourced sharable plates. These family-style dishes focus on eclectic, globally-inspired street food. Another highlight of the restaurant is the beautiful Forno Bravo wood oven fueled by wood from Northern Arizona. Hand-in-hand with MATCH’s globally-inspired menu, the cocktail program will focus on unique, artful libations sourced from local ingredients and international spirits, along with a selection of Arizona craft beers and wine.
With more than two decades of industry talent and culinary expertise, Executive Chef Akos Szabo is leading the kitchen at MATCH Cuisine & Cocktails and Audrey Enriquez is killing it in the dessert area, no seriously! The on-site restaurant includes the interactive guest experience that I mentioned above. A 23-foot-long, 10-guest Chef’s Counter where Chef Szabo will create personalized menus and be on-hand to talk about the new restaurant. Be the first to taste some of MATCH’s menu items such as Wood Grilled Korean BBQ Ribs, family-style Wood Grilled Bakkafrost Salmon or family-style Steak Frittes. If their whole purpose is to help us find ourselves, they’ve succeeded and I can’t wait to go back in for more.
I’m going to give you the tour through pictures of our dinner in a minute but before I do, I want to mention that you can grab breakfast at the restaurant and lunch. On the breakfast menu you can find an EL BENEDICTO with herbed focaccia | pancetta | saute’ed Tuscan kale | poached eggs | hollandaise and red wine gastrique (OMG!) or the NYC with house cured salmon | red onion | crispy capers | hard boiled egg | cream cheese | arugula on marble rye. They also serve up press coffee and Karma Juices and if you’re in a hurry to grab the lighrail, they have the lightrail express items that’ll have you in and out in 30 mins! For lunch might I suggest the press-strami or the BANH MI with roasted pork loin | terrine | liver pate | pickled carrot salad and lime vinaigrette? No matter what you choose, you’re in for a flavorful treat.
KOREAN BBQ RIBS with green papaya | carrots | cilantro | roasted cashews | mint | scallion | thai chili dressing
MARRAKECH TANGIA with saffron cous cous | olives | pistachio | preserved lemon | coriander & mint yogurt | sumac (choice of chicken, beef, salmon or vegetable)
