The Carlson Creek family Vineyard, out of Wilcox, Arizona has settled in quite nicely in their newest venture, a tasting room on the Art Walk of Old Town Scottsdale. Bob Carlson, who started Carlson Creek Vineyard in 2008, couldn’t do it without the help of his family and co-owners, his wife Liz, and children Robert, Katherine, and John.
I was fortunate enough to meet the Carlson family, as well as taste some of their wines before the tasting room opened to the public on July 15, 2016. My favorite was the Rule of Three, a collaboration on Grenache, Syrah & Mourvèdre, and their most popular wine, a Reisling, called Sweet Adeline, named after their grandmother.
Part of the Carlson’s philosophy is that wine should be enjoyed at the customer’s pace, which means tasting room staff are attentive, accommodating and ensures one will never be rushed. All tastings also include a take-home insignia glass. The tasting room is a perfect place to meet with friends, or enjoy a date night for two. I think the Carlson family said it best, they wouldn’t be able to do this without the locals, so let’s all show them some love!
