Hi, I’m Tara. I blog over at Salt and Pepper Moms. If you follow our blog, you know that we do it all from food to fashion. I love being in the kitchen and cooking for my family. I have a passion for food that I can’t hide!
If you have been to Pink Pony in the past, you need to come again. The new look and updated menu makes for an elegant setting. There was no shortage of food, as we were served 6 indulgent courses!
We first started with Wood Fired Octopus. This dish had Spanish Octopus- Garbanzo Bean Puree- Chives- Crispy Garbanzo Beans- Olive oil and Salumi Butter. This dish was perfect in every way. I love the salty taste of the garbanzo beans and the octopus added nice texture. They paired it with Uncle Bear’s Imperial Saison.
Our second course was Braised & Wood Roasted Beets – Watercress- Marcona Almonds- Mascarpone- Parmesan- Herbs with a Maple Sherry Vingaigrette. This dish had a clean, earthy taste and the smear of mascarpone balanced the whole dish. They paired this with their Three if by Desert cocktail. Everyone was impressed by the different flavors going in this drink.
Next up was their burger duo. Two Niman Ranch Patties- Bacon- Tomato- Onion Jam- Watercress- Smoked Pt. Reyes Blue Cheese – House Baked Sesame Bun. This burger was a mouthful of deliciousness. The sweet onion jam and the blue cheese paired nicely together. I couldn’t stop eating this meal! Their second burger was a tuna burger. Saku Tuna – Pickled Cucumber & Onion – Watercress – Mustard Aioli on a House Baked Sesame Brioche Bun. I am a huge fan of tuna and this tuna slider was finely put together. I loved the pickled cucumber and onion! They paired the burger duo with That Brewery, Arizona Trails, Brown Ale and Cucumber Gimlet.
The fourth course created a lot of chatter at the table. They served Roasted Bone Marrow with House Baked Bread. This was my first time tasting Bone Marrow and I was pleasantly surprised. This meal had a smokey, roasted taste and it was lovely. They paired this meal with Golden Gate Sazerac.
I think they served the best for the last. They served us Beerler’s Farm Bone -In Pork Chop- Potato Puree – Roasted Asparagus – Bacon Jus with an English Pea & Mint Pistou. All the rich flavors in this dish were spot on. The bacon jus was incredible! I even asked for a side of it to take home. The pea and mint pistou were light and had a way of cleansing your pallet before your next bite. They paired this dish with their Strawberry New Fashion.
The final course was dessert. They served a Petite Dessert Trio. Cheesecake- Blueberry Ice Cream Sandwich – German Chocolate. If I had to choose from this delicious trio I would go for the cheesecake. It was excellent. It left me wanting more! They paired dessert with Superstition Meadery, Safeword. Everything about my evening at Pink Pony was enchanting. Great food, awesome service, charming location.
