Craving Japanese, but the boss wants pho? Have a hankering for hot and spicy, but the kids are clamoring for Chinese? Once upon a time it would have taken some serious international traveling to accommodate all taste buds, but that’s all about to change with the upcoming opening of Sobas.
With a menu boasting everything from Korean BBQ and Bao Mi to ramen noodle bowls and Boba tea, Sobas is set to please fans of all types of Asian cuisine when it bursts onto Gilbert’s burgeoning restaurant scene on June 4th.
Offering a variety of Asian flavors served counter-service style and a lively, carefree atmosphere with plenty of seating for eating in, Sobas is a new, locally based cooking shop offering an array of inventive Pan-Asian flavor combinations. Think Gyoza ($6), Chicken Skewers ($6), Pad Thai($7) and six different Baos (two Asian steamed buns served sandwich-style filled with an assortment of fresh, bold ingredients) or try an Asian twist on classic salads with Sobas’ Thai Cobb ($9) or Wasabi Caesar ($8).
Venture into the unconventional with ingredient combinations at Sobas such as Sriracha Alfredo($11) featuring fettuccini noodles, spicy Sriracha alfredo sauce, broccoli, bell pepper and parmesan to Korean Mac and Cheese ($9), boasting elbow noodles, diced kimchi and pork belly tossed in a four-cheese sauce.
“Sobas offers craveable selections from a broad range of Asian cooking cultures,” said Sobas’ Founder and Co-Owner Berekk Blackwell. “Whether you’re looking for a favorite standby or ready to expand your palate, this is place.”
Blackwell added that Sobas’ affordable price point makes it a particularly ideal spot to try new flavors, as the majority of Sobas’ menu items are priced between $6 and $12. The eatery also boasts an impressive beverage selection highlighted by a variety of iced and blended Boba (bubble) teas.
Tucked conveniently at the north side of Gilbert’s Crossroads Towne Center, Sobas’ first location (expect more across the Valley in the coming year) offers a quick and easy option for a business lunch, an affordable, convenient dinner or a quick bubble tea for the road.
