The Crush Brew festival that took place on February 19th and 20th at Scottsdale Waterfront was an event that people usually only dream of. It was the first annual festival, and let me tell you why you don’t want to miss the next one!
Immediately when you walked in you were greeted with good vibes that only foreshadowed a good time. Even the staff was happy to be there, and why wouldn’t you be? With over 80 vendors to choose from of wine, distilled spirits, to craft beers – you were bound to find something you loved. Attendees received 15 drink tickets, and the vendors were very generous! By the last hour, people were giving their drink tickets away for other attendees to use!
The atmosphere was light and it made for such a happy night. There were never any long lines, and because there was always something to do from live music by local bands, and multiple photo-booths – there was never a dull moment. Even attendees started putting on their own shows as they beat-boxed and enjoyed one another’s company! Local places such as OHSO Brewery were also giving out coupons for 3 cent beer flights, and all the vendors shared their beverages like a friend offering you a drink in their home!
Phoenix Magazine used the event to award the People’s Choice Awards for top vendors where they had attendees vote for their favorite wine, craftbeer, and distilled spirits. For wine, the Borra Vineyards won, for craft-beer Prescott Brewing Company came in first, and for distilled Spirits – first place went to the Chicago Distilling Company.
For a list of all the winners you can find them here and we hope you visit them all!
In addition to craft beverages, the festival hosted a contest to give the title of “Best Wood-Fired Pizza on Two Wheels.” Of course it was a hard decision when 10 of the regions top pizza masters are competing, but when all votes were in — Nicastro Pizza stole the show! The festival benefited edARTSaz and Pipeline Worldwide, two non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations based in Phoenix, Arizona. Adult beverages and pizza for a good cause, what’s not to love?
The dates for the next festival will be announced in late April so follow them on instagram or like them on facebook so you can book your calendars as soon as it’s announced!
We know we’ll be back!
