When you think of Different Pointe of View, you might think more towards dinner for special occasions. This would be partially correct thinking because Different Pointe of View is wonderful for those exceptional dinners and they’ll work with you on making it as special as you want. However, right now, they are doing an amazing dinner at quite a reasonable price. So when I say value, I mean value, I’m not sure you could find a meal like this, for $39.99 anywhere else right now. And believe me, this won’t last forever so you best jump on it! If you haven’t been to Different Pointe of View, this is the best time to experience it and if you have, you know what a deal this is.
So grab a date or a friend and head up to the top of the mountain, enjoy an Arizona sunset above the town with the most perfect view from the restaurant, all while enjoying an exquisite meal. Last week, I was able to sample all of the dishes and spend some quality time learning more about the restaurant and Chef. Chef Anthony DeMuro heads the restaurant and told me about how he picks his crew and how they stick with him throughout the years. Not only does this create a family within the restaurant but it keeps things consistent in the kitchen and with the quality of the food and the service you receive when you’re dining. The staff is well versed in what the Chef is preparing and they are highly knowledgeable on all fronts. Each time I have been to the restaurant, I have always been given the same exemplary service and food, now I know why.
After the meal, Chef came and sat down with us and chatted, while we stared out over the vast city. He explained how after all these years, the view never grows tiresome and has always been a calming scene. I was feeling quite peaceful myself listening to him tell us about the thousands of sunset pictures he has accumulated, his connection with animals and affinity for taking pictures of them up close. He describes the most amazing views of monsoons and haboobs engulfing the mountains and of the time that lightning struck right outside the restaurant and caught one of the trees on fire. If you ever get a chance, ask him about his hawk encounters and rattlesnake adventures. Chef DeMuro is easy going and unlike many Chefs I’ve met he isn’t wound tight. If you get a chance to see him in action at one of their wine dinners, where he cooks a meal in front of you, you see how he prepares food with grace and ease. He’s easy to talk to and dedicated to his craft, his kitchen and his staff. His love of this restaurant and the people working within, flow into his food nightly and with that, I’ll get started on what we feasted on.
The $39.99 dinner will get you a starter, entree and dessert from the prixe fixe menu. You’ll have the opportunity to start with one of the following:
You can also choose the Chef’s Daily Feature, which happened to be Seared Oregon King Salmon with Forbidden Rice and Pancetta, Artichoke Tapenade & Sautéd Artichokes, finished with a Basil Puree and Lemon Fennel Butter Sauce.
For dessert, you can indulge in any of the following Tahitian Vanilla Bean Crème Brûlée with a Citrus Tea Shortbread and topped with Fresh Berries. This was my favorite for the night, probably because it was light and refreshing after such a large meal.
So what are you waiting for? Call them up or head there tonight, this is a value you don’t want to miss out on!
